Textile Ministry Unveils Roadmap To Achieve US$100 Billion Textile Exports By 2030

The Ministry of Textiles has launched a nationwide initiative aimed at boosting India’s textile and apparel exports to US$ 100 billion by 2030, bringing together state governments, industry associations and exporters at a two-day summit held on Tuesday.
The summit served as a platform to identify strategies for accelerating export growth from major textile clusters including Tiruppur, Surat, Ludhiana and Bhadohi. Discussions focused on expanding opportunities in technical textiles, man-made fibre (MMF) products, GI-tagged goods and premium-value segments, while also addressing key challenges related to logistics, infrastructure, technology adoption and market access.
The initiative follows extensive consultations conducted across 36 States and Union Territories and nearly 200 districts, leading to the development of state and district-level export action plans designed to strengthen India’s competitiveness in global textile markets.
Addressing the gathering, Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh emphasized the need for district-driven export growth and highlighted several priority areas, including product diversification, value addition, sustainability, skilling, technical textiles, branded product development and enhanced market access.
He also stressed the importance of setting export targets for both champion and aspirational districts to unlock the full potential of India’s textile ecosystem and contribute to the national export objective.
According to the Ministry, the summit has been organized under the Cabinet Secretariat’s Departmental Summits initiative, which seeks to strengthen Centre-State collaboration and promote cooperative federalism in achieving national development goals.
Recommendations emerging from the summit will be incorporated into the proposed National Textile Export Roadmap 2030, a strategic framework intended to strengthen the textile value chain, improve export competitiveness and leverage existing and future trade agreements to access new international markets.
The roadmap is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting India’s ambition to significantly expand its share in global textile and apparel trade over the coming years.
