AATCC To Host Key Textile Events On Sustainability Challenges

The American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) has announced a series of upcoming conferences aimed at tackling sustainability challenges in the textile industry. These events will serve as platforms for industry professionals, researchers, and policymakers to collaborate on innovative solutions.

The 2025 PFAS Conference, scheduled for April 24-25 at the StateView Hotel in Raleigh, North Carolina, will address concerns surrounding per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in textiles. Widely used for water repellency and stain resistance, PFAS face increasing scrutiny due to health and environmental risks. The conference will facilitate multi-stakeholder discussions to update best practices and promote responsible industry approaches.

On May 19, a virtual Digital Learning Session led by Assistant Professor Renée Lamb from Virginia Commonwealth University will examine the sustainability of cotton versus rayon. As demand for eco-friendly fibers grows, the session will explore the environmental impact, biodegradability, and industry applications of both materials, providing insights into their role in sustainable fashion.

The Circularity Conference, set for June 17-18 at the University of Rhode Island, will focus on circular systems in textiles. Experts will discuss closed-loop production, textile waste management, and regulatory developments to drive sustainability across the supply chain.

AATCC invites industry professionals to engage in these discussions, shaping the future of sustainable textiles through collaborative innovation.
