AEPC Unveils ‘40 By 30’ Plan To Boost Indian Garment Exports
The Apparel Export Promotion Council of India (AEPC) has set a target of achieving US $40 billion in garment exports by 2030
“To achieve this target, the council will focus on innovation, expanding market and product basket, practice sustainability and responsible business practices,” AEPC Chairman Naren Goenka said.
In a statement, Goenka said “We have set an ambitious goal of achieving apparel exports of $40 billion by 2030. This target named ’40 by 30′ reflects our commitment to reaching new heights,”
He also added that Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal will present export awards to ready-made garment exporters on December 9, which recognises top Indian garment exporters.
In the first six months of fiscal 2024 ending September 30, 2023, India exported clothing amounting to $6.92 billion, down 15.3 percent from a year ago period, while those in fiscal 2023 reached $16.2 billion.
