AP Boosts Sircilla Textile Industry With Rs 650 Crore Orders For 1.30 Crore Sarees

The Andhra Pradesh government has taken a significant step to support the Sircilla textile industry by placing large-scale orders for sarees under the Indira Mahila Shakti Sarees Scheme. Tesco General Manager Ashok Rao handed over the saree production orders to self-help group (SHG) members during a meeting held at the Rajanna Sircilla district collectorate on Monday.
The scheme aims to benefit 63 lakh women across the state who are part of self-help groups. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced that 1.30 crore sarees will be distributed, with each woman receiving two sarees.
The designs for the sarees were reviewed and approved, and the state government has allocated an estimated Rs 650 crore for the production of 1.30 crore sarees. In the first phase, orders for 4.24 crore metres of fabric have been placed with 129 Max Societies in Sircilla for the production of 65 lakh sarees at a cost of Rs 325 crore.
This includes orders for 6.30-metre sarees, comprising nine-metre (gochi) sarees with blouses, to be produced on Sircilla powerlooms. The sarees are expected to be completed and delivered by April 30, marking a significant boost to the local textile industry and providing employment opportunities to SHG members.
