Aquafil And New Weave’s Breakthrough ‘R2R’ Collection Revolutionizes Rugs
New Weave, a recently launched company, is dedicated to bringing circular products to the forefront. They firmly believe that circular design is not a futuristic concept and can compete in terms of durability, performance and price. The company’s mission revolves around providing sustainable products without compromising on quality, aligning with Aquafil’s “Born Regenerated to be Regenerable” project and incorporating ECONYL regenerated nylon into its collections. The company designs its rugs with sustainability in mind.
The company’s debut rug collection exclusively features 100% ECONYL nylon. New Weave has modernized a centuries-old weaving technique by eliminating elements that traditionally hinder regeneration, such as mixing materials and adhesive layers. Through the application of a 3D weaving technique, the company directly weaves a multi-layered textile that encompasses both the front and back sides. This innovative process negates the need for various materials and adhesives. Consequently, the company’s rugs can be easily separated at the end of their lifecycle.
In addition, New Weave offers a take-back service managed entirely by the company to ensure that its products can be regenerated, thus closing the sustainability loop. New Weave embraces the Social Business concept, championed by Nobel Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, who is an advocate of micro-credit. A core principle of this concept is that New Weave reinvests 100% of its profits into its vision of a circular future.
