Better Cotton Hosts Regional Member Meeting In New Delhi

Better Cotton held its annual Regional Member Meeting in New Delhi, India, on 15 February, bringing together around 250 members and stakeholders from across South Asia. The event, hosted alongside Bharat Tex, focused on farm-level initiatives, certification and traceability within the cotton sector.

The meeting featured insights from Programme Partners such as the Ambuja Cement Foundation and the Lupin Foundation, who highlighted their efforts in supporting cotton farming communities. Retailers like H&M and Bestseller reflected on one year of Better Cotton Traceability, discussing its successes and future potential. IKEA’s Arvind Rewal outlined plans to expand regenerative agricultural practices, while Dr. Y.G. Prasad of the Central Institute for Cotton Research emphasized soil health as crucial to sustainability.

Industry leaders Vardhman Textiles and Impulse International shared their sourcing strategies and examined the impact of emerging EU legislation on their operations. Policy and innovation trends were also explored by Peush Narang of Cotton Council International.

Better Cotton staff provided key updates on India-specific partnerships, the 2030 strategy, ongoing projects and the organization’s certification journey. The event underscored the growing importance of supply chain visibility and sustainability in the global cotton industry.
