BTRA Signs MoU With EIE Instruments To Develop PVD Water Flow Testing Instrument

The Bombay Textile Research Association (BTRA), a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Geosynthetics, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ahmedabad-based EIE Instruments to strengthen research, indigenous technology development and industry collaboration in geosynthetics.

The MoU was signed on October 1, 2026, and will focus on the joint development of a specialised instrument to measure vertical water flow in Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVD) under both straight and buckled conditions.

The collaboration is aimed at developing indigenous testing and measurement capabilities while addressing emerging requirements of the geosynthetics industry. The initiative will bring together BTRA’s research and testing expertise with EIE Instruments’ capabilities in instrument development.

According to BTRA, the collaboration will support research and innovation in geosynthetics, development of specialised testing instruments, technology transfer and enhancement of testing capabilities for geosynthetic products.

The initiative also seeks to bridge the gap between research, instrument development and industrial applications, enabling the development of practical testing solutions for the industry.

As a Centre of Excellence for Geosynthetics, BTRA has been focusing on strengthening indigenous research and testing capabilities and supporting the development of technology-driven solutions for the sector. The partnership with EIE Instruments is expected to further contribute to India’s capabilities in geosynthetics testing, research and technological innovation.
