The Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) will manage the facility, which has been planned on around 45,000 square feet area and will employ 2,000 women when fully operational.
Till date, RMC has invested Rs 15 crore in the project and the infrastructure of the factory is nearly complete and has already installed 1,000 stitching machines.
In the initial phase, the factory aims to employ 1,000 women and will subsequently expand to create jobs for over 2,000 women.
Women with basic stitching knowledge will be recruited, but will also be provided training, while RMC will also conduct training classes for freshers too.
The facility’s model is expected to resemble the Nawa Dantewada Garment Factory, established in Dantewada, also in Chhattisgarh.
The Dantewada unit is operational since January 2021 and produces uniforms for CRPF and NMDC, providing employment to around 200 people.
