Esstee Exports Releases First ESG Report, Reinforces Commitment to Sustainability and Ethical Governance

Tiruppur-based garment manufacturer Esstee Exports has released its inaugural Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report for 2024–2025, outlining a comprehensive roadmap for sustainability, ethical business practices and social responsibility. Celebrating three decades in the apparel industry, the company’s Chairman Thirukkumaran described the report as a reflection of Esstee’s deep-rooted commitment to responsible growth and transparency. “Sustainability is not just a corporate obligation—it’s a critical pillar of our long-term success,” he stated.
The report highlights Esstee’s impressive strides in environmental stewardship. Its rainwater harvesting infrastructure captures and stores up to 3.5 million litres annually, aiding groundwater recharge and reducing TDS concentration. Additionally, the company sources 70% of its raw materials from organic cotton, which consumes significantly less water and avoids synthetic inputs. Nearly a quarter of Esstee’s energy now comes from renewable sources like wind and solar, while LED lighting, solar panels and heat recovery systems further contribute to energy efficiency. GHG emissions under Scope 1 and 2 were recorded at 838.07 tCO₂e and are monitored annually to shape reduction targets.
On the waste management front, the company recycles 219 tonnes of textile waste and collaborates with certified vendors for recycling non-textile waste. Logistics operations are being optimized through route planning software and trials with electric and hybrid vehicles, aimed at reducing the company’s carbon footprint. Water conservation initiatives include greywater recycling, low-flow fixtures, and a sewage treatment plant currently under commissioning.
Social responsibility is equally central to Esstee’s ESG vision. The company engages in community development through school adoption projects, green initiatives like ‘Vanathukul Tiruppur’, and free medical camps covering general, eye and dental health. Educational scholarships and infrastructure support are provided in partnership with charitable trusts and Rotary Clubs. Women represent over 50% of the workforce, and the company offers safe residential hostels, mental health sessions and preventive screenings for conditions such as breast and cervical cancer.
Looking ahead, the company has set clear targets for 2026 and beyond. These include transitioning to 50% renewable energy by December 2026 and 100% by 2030, reducing waste and water consumption by 10%, and expanding health camps to include thyroid screenings. Esstee Exports’ ESG report positions it as a forward-thinking, responsible manufacturer, setting a benchmark for sustainability in India’s textile and apparel industry.
