Fabindia Teams Up With MSME Ministry To Boost Artisans

Fabindia, a prominent lifestyle brand renowned for blending traditional Indian craftsmanship with contemporary design, has announced its strategic partnership with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME Ministry) under the newly launched PM Vishwakarma scheme. This initiative, unveiled on September 17, 2023, aims to support India’s traditional artisans by enhancing their market reach and promoting their products.

The PM Vishwakarma scheme, a transformative programme by the Government of India, is designed to empower traditional artisans across the nation, including potters, carpenters, weavers, blacksmiths, and more. The scheme offers financial support, skill development, and marketing assistance to these skilled craftsmen.

Fabindia’s collaboration with the MSME Ministry focuses on:

  • Market Integration: Incorporating artisan-made products into Fabindia’s retail network, providing these artisans with a platform to reach a broader audience.
  • Capacity Building: Offering training and skill development to help artisans refine their craft and adapt modern design trends and technology.
  • Branding & Promotion: Leveraging Fabindia’s extensive marketing channels to enhance visibility and demand for the artisans’ handmade products.
  • Sustainability & Preservation: Committing to the preservation of traditional crafts and promoting India’s rich cultural heritage.

Both MSME Ministry and Fabindia emphasized the initiative’s goal of empowering artisans, ensuring their crafts gain the recognition and market access they deserve. Fabindia has invited consumers and industry leaders to support this initiative by embracing artisan-crafted products and contributing to the preservation of India’s artisanal heritage.
