India Boosts Trade, Investment Talks Globally

India’s push to deepen global economic partnerships and strengthen domestic industry gathered pace as Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held a series of high-level interactions with international counterparts and business leaders.

In a virtual meeting with Marcelo Ebrard, Secretary of Economy of Mexico, the discussions centred on expanding bilateral trade, enhancing investment flows and fostering stronger industry collaboration. Both sides explored opportunities to unlock new business avenues and reinforce economic engagement between the two countries.

Goyal also met Patrik Jonsson, Executive Vice President and President of Lilly International at Eli Lilly and Company, to discuss India’s growth trajectory and the company’s expanding footprint in the country. The interaction focused on scaling up investments and aligning with the government’s Make in India for the world initiative.

Further strengthening diplomatic and economic ties, Goyal held a virtual meeting with Harry Theoharis, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece. The dialogue covered a broad spectrum of cooperation areas, including trade, investment, tourism and maritime connectivity, underscoring the growing partnership between the two nations.

On the domestic front, the minister engaged with Aadit Palicha, Co-founder and CEO of Zepto, highlighting the government’s focus on innovation-led growth. Discussions revolved around strengthening skilling initiatives, promoting entrepreneurship and building globally competitive enterprises.

The interaction also explored integrating farmers into modern supply chains to enhance market access and improve value realisation, reflecting a broader effort to link grassroots producers with India’s rapidly evolving startup ecosystem.

These engagements come at a time when India is actively positioning itself as a global economic partner while leveraging innovation, investment and policy support to drive sustainable growth.
