ITAMMA’s 81st AGM Honors J.H. Shah With Lifetime Achievement Award
The Indian Textile Accessories and Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (ITAMMA) celebrated its 81st Annual General Meeting (AGM) with a focus on digital transformation, sustainability, and innovation. The event was marked by the felicitation of J.H. Shah, former ITAMMA President and Trustee, with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his contributions to the association and the industry.
In his address, ITAMMA President, Bhavesh Patel highlighted the association’s efforts to create a digital marketplace and ecosystem with Sambuq.com, enabling members to thrive in a challenging global market driven by sustainability and responsible manufacturing. He emphasized ITAMMA’s proactive role in assisting members with technological upgrades, quality improvements, and cost-effectiveness to enhance their competitiveness in domestic and international markets.
N.D. Mhatre, Director General (Technical), highlighted the need for sustainability-driven innovations in textile machinery to meet the demands of the garment, retail, and fashion industries. He emphasized the role of digitalization and AI in optimizing operations and connecting textile manufacturers with the end-user industry.
Anil Singhee, Managing Director of ADDON HOLDINGS, highlighted the symbiotic relationship between machine manufacturers, garment creators, and fashion designers. He called for investment in R&D, sustainability initiatives, and the adoption of smart manufacturing technologies such as 5G and IoT to enhance operational efficiency and competitiveness.
Kartikay Dhanda, Secretary of the Textile Committee, shared insights into initiatives supporting sustainable and circular textiles, as well as efforts to upgrade laboratories and secure Geographical Indication (GI) recognition for Indian textiles.
Representatives from Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited and Tata Power Solar presented on revolutionizing the textile industry through sustainable solar solutions, showcasing tangible benefits achieved by implementing solar projects.
J.H. Shah was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his exceptional leadership and foresight. As ITAMMA President (2010–11) and Trustee, Shah has been instrumental in strengthening the association financially, enabling it to expand its activities at a national and global level. His legacy includes fostering innovation, generating sustainable income streams, and elevating ITAMMA’s standing in the competitive global textile market.
Outgoing President, Purvik Panchal highlighted the association’s strides in digitalization and social media engagement during his tenure, while incoming President, Nimesh J. Shah emphasized financial stability and self-sufficiency as priorities for the upcoming year.
