Microban And CiCLO Partner To Enhance Sustainability In Textiles

Microban International, a leader in antimicrobial solutions, has teamed up with CiCLO Technology, a pioneer in reducing microfibre pollution, to integrate advanced sustainability features into synthetic fibres, yarns and fabrics. This strategic partnership combines Microban’s superior odor control and antimicrobial protection with CiCLO’s biodegradable technology to offer textile manufacturers solutions that enhance both performance and environmental responsibility.

The collaboration introduces a unique synergy of technologies: Microban’s solutions provide long-lasting odour neutralization, extending the life and freshness of textiles and reducing the need for frequent washing. CiCLO’s technology facilitates the biodegradation of polyester and nylon in end-of-life environments and accelerates the breakdown of synthetic fibres shed during manufacturing and laundering, thereby minimizing the environmental impact of microplastic pollution.

Brian Aylward, Director of Business Development for Microban’s global textile group, commented, “Microban and CiCLO Technology are a perfect match in our shared commitment to innovation and delivering customer solutions. Together, we’re providing an ideal solution for brands and retailers seeking high-performance textiles that also meet sustainability goals.”

By integrating these technologies, manufacturers can produce textiles that are not only durable and fresh but also environmentally friendly. Microban’s antimicrobial properties enhance product longevity, while CiCLO’s technology ensures synthetic fibres degrade more like natural fibres, reducing the persistence of microplastics. Cheryl Smyre, Vice President at Parkdale Advanced Materials, the parent company of CiCLO Technology, added, “This collaboration offers a dual-benefit solution that enhances textile performance without compromising long-term environmental impact—truly a breakthrough innovation.”
