Pakistan Textile Exports Inch Up 3% In February 2024
Pakistani textile exports reported an increase of 3 percent in March 2024 to total US $1.3 billion as against $1.26 billion posted in the same month of the earlier year.
Textile exports dropped in March 2024 by around 8 percent month on month from $1.41 billion in February 2024.
“This is the fourth successive month textile exports have posted a year-on-year increase,” All-Pakistan Textile Mills Association’s (APTMA) provisional data said.
.
However, in the first nine months of fiscal 2023-24 ending June 30, 2024, textile exports fell by a marginal 0.3 percent year on year to $12.44 billion.
Last year the Pakistan government had increased gas tariff by a massive 223 percent, which APTMA termed it as detrimental to the textile export sector of Pakistan.
The textile body demanded that the government reverse its decision to make textile exports competitive in the global market.
