Primark Expands Spain And Portugal Presence

Primark has announced an investment of more than €85 million across Spain and Portugal as part of its expansion and store modernization strategy in the Iberian region.
The investment includes the opening of five new stores, refurbishment of existing outlets and expansion projects, reinforcing the retailer’s long-term commitment to both markets.
In Spain, where Primark is celebrating 20 years since opening its first store in Madrid, the company will invest €40 million to refurbish 11 stores and open a new outlet in Talavera de la Reina. The retailer currently operates 67 stores in the country.
In Portugal, the company will invest over €45 million to open four new stores in Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia, Castelo Branco and Setúbal, alongside the expansion of its Forum Coimbra store. The expansion will increase Primark’s store network in Portugal to 18 locations by summer 2027.
A major highlight of the Portugal expansion is Primark’s first high-street store in the country, which will open in Porto’s historic Palladium building on Rua de Santa Catarina.
“This is a historic moment for Primark in the Iberian Peninsula – this investment reflects our confidence in these markets and our long-term commitment to Spain and Portugal,” said Carlos Inácio.
The expansion programme across both countries is expected to create more than 300 new retail jobs, including store operations and management roles.
