Reju CEO Patrik Frisk Launches ‘Regeneration Hub Zero’ For Sustainable Textile Production

In a significant stride toward sustainable textile manufacturing, Reju CEO Patrik Frisk, who formerly served as CEO of Under Armour, is leading an innovative project called Regeneration Hub Zero. This groundbreaking facility is dedicated to processing discarded textiles into Reju Polyester, a high-quality material that boasts a lower carbon footprint than conventional virgin polyester. The prevailing solution was to rely on recycled plastic bottles; however, Frisk believed this approach was not sustainable in the long term.

This vision ultimately led to Under Armour’s initial investment in the project, followed by the collaboration with Technip Energies, a renowned engineering and technology firm, to construct the facility.

The Regeneration Hub Zero employs advanced IBM technology to recover and transform discarded mixed materials into high-quality, environmentally friendly textiles. This innovative process marks a significant departure from traditional recycling methods, which often struggle to effectively handle the complexity of textile waste.

What sets Reju Polyester apart is its impressive 50% lower carbon footprint compared to virgin polyester. This reduced environmental impact is achieved through efficient processing techniques that maximize resource recovery while minimizing emissions.
