Swedish Innovation Behind New TexChroma Spray Dyeing

Responding to growing global demand for sustainable textile processing, BW Converting, a member of TMAS – the Swedish Textile Machinery Association, will unveil its new Baldwin TexChroma digital spray dyeing system at ITMA Asia + CITME 2025, taking place in Singapore from October 28–31.
“We are excited to launch TexChroma because spray dyeing is the future, and many of our customers are already seeing the benefits,” said Yiannis Vasilonikolos, BW Converting Sales Leader for Textiles. “We’ve successfully conducted trials of TexChroma using pigment, reactive, acid, and disperse dyes on both cotton and synthetic fibres.”
According to production data, TexChroma can reduce energy, dye, and chemical consumption by more than 30% compared to conventional continuous pad-batch dyeing and by up to 50% compared to exhaust reactive dyeing. Its advanced technology allows reactive dyestuffs and alkali fixation chemicals to be mixed just seconds before spray application, eliminating issues like tailing and listing, common problems of uneven dye application and colour variation.
Building on TexCoat® G4 Success
The launch of TexChroma follows the success of BW Converting’s TexCoat G4 finishing system, which has seen strong adoption globally.
“TexCoat G4 spray technology was developed in Sweden from our offset printing expertise,” explained Rick Stanford, Vice President of Global Business Development for Textiles. “Initially, we focused on installations in Europe and the USA, but in the past two years, we’ve expanded rapidly in Asia, with 35 units sold. Many customers have been asking for a similar solution for dyeing.”
The first TexChroma unit will be installed at the plant of a well-known Italian continuous dyer, part of a major textile group, for industrial testing before series production begins.
“Our first customer is nearby in Sweden, with the practical dyehouse skills we can learn from and already a satisfied TexCoat G4 user,” Stanford noted. “TexChroma will help eliminate costly rework, a persistent issue in dyehouses. We’ve been careful not to rush details, the dyeing process must be right the first time. The market is ready, and now, so are we.”
BW Converting will showcase TexChroma at Hall 8, Stand B201 at ITMA Asia + CITME 2025.
