Tonello To Unveil Denim Illusion Concept At Denim PV Milan 2026

Tonello is set to present its latest creative and technological concept, Denim Illusion at Denim Première Vision Milan 2026, scheduled for May 20-21.
The collection challenges conventional perceptions of denim by recreating authentic denim aesthetics on non-denim garments through advanced dyeing and finishing technologies.
According to Tonello, the collection explores the boundary between appearance and material reality, featuring garments that visually replicate worn denim effects such as faded shades, abrasions, whiskers, creases and vintage breakages, while actually being produced on alternative fabrics.
The company said the concept combines indigo-inspired aesthetics with earthy natural tones, offering a reinterpretation of classic denim through innovative finishing processes.
At the core of the project is Tonello’s DyeMate technology, which enables garments to be dyed with indigo through a controlled low-temperature process, creating a stable base for subsequent treatments. The collection also incorporates Sulfur Essence treatments, combining sulfur dyes and indigo to recreate discharged and overdyed denim effects on ready-to-dye garments.
To achieve realistic wear patterns and surface detailing, Tonello uses THE Laser 2.0 technology, capable of reproducing scraping effects, folds, whiskers and distressed textures with high precision.
The finishing process is further enhanced through ozone technologies. Tonello’s patented OBleach system delivers bleach-like effects without hazardous chemicals, while the O-Zone cabinet creates localized fading, sun-faded appearances and smooth colour transitions for added visual depth.
Part of the collection has also been developed using Core, Tonello’s nebulization technology designed to support low liquor ratio dyeing and specialised finishing applications across multiple machine platforms.
Through Denim Illusion, Tonello aims to demonstrate how innovative dyeing, laser and ozone technologies can redefine denim-inspired fashion while expanding creative possibilities beyond traditional denim fabrics.
