Bharat Tex 2025 Strengthens India’s Position In MMF & Technical Textiles: MATEXIL Chairman

Bharat Tex 2025, India’s largest and most prestigious global textile event, concluded on a high note, setting new benchmarks for the textile and apparel sector.
Bhadresh Dodhia, Chairman of MATEXIL (Manmade Fibre and Technical Textiles Export Promotion Council) and Co-Chairman of the Core Committee, highlighted the event’s impact, stating, “Bharat Tex 2025 has provided an excellent platform to promote manmade fibre (MMF) and technical textiles.”
Approximately 250 companies participated in the event through MATEXIL, which promotes the export of MMF textiles, including fibre, yarn, fabrics, made-ups (such as home textiles), and technical textiles. Additionally, about 370 foreign buyers from various countries attended Bharat Tex 2025 through MATEXIL’s invitation and arrangements.
During Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bharat Tex 2025 on February 16, 2025, Bhadresh Dodhia briefed him on the MMF sector and advancements in recycling. He noted that while India has traditionally been strong in cotton textiles, it is making rapid strides in MMF.
Highlighting sustainability efforts, Dodhia presented a garment made from recycled plastic bottles, emphasizing its alignment with the Prime Minister’s vision of ocean cleaning and environmental sustainability. He reiterated that the industry is ready to invest in MMF to meet growing global demand.
The Prime Minister, in his address at Bharat Tex 2025, highlighted the critical role of MSMEs in the textile sector and urged banks to facilitate greater credit availability for them. Dodhia welcomed the announcement of the National Manufacturing Mission in the Union Budget 2025, stating that it would significantly boost MSMEs, which contribute 80% of manufacturing capacity in the textile and clothing sector. He also noted that the revised MSME definitions in the budget would help businesses scale up while retaining key benefits.
The Prime Minister encouraged young entrepreneurs to drive innovation in textiles, particularly in technical textiles, a sector that has grown significantly in India. Dodhia pointed out that India’s domestic technical textiles market has now reached US$22 billion and that MATEXIL has developed a strategic Vision & Action Plan to boost exports by closely engaging with manufacturers and exporters.
Recognizing the environmental impact of fast-changing fashion trends, the Prime Minister stressed the urgent need for recycling and upcycling in textiles. Dodhia acknowledged that textile recycling requires substantial investment but expressed confidence that increasing sustainability awareness would drive new investments, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision.
“The conclusion of Bharat Tex 2025 marks not an end, but the beginning of a new era for Indian textiles. We are committed to translating this momentum into sustained growth and positioning India as a global leader in textiles and clothing,” Bhadresh Dodhia affirmed.
