The first three days of Bharat Tex 2026 have witnessed a strong response from domestic and international stakeholders with Bharat Mandapam emerging as a major global hub for textile and apparel business, sourcing, innovation and investment.

Spread across more than 16 lakh square feet, the world’s largest integrated textile event has brought together 1,647 exhibitors, nearly 95,000 business visitors, more than 20,000 repeat visits, 11,315 buyers including 6,090 international buyers and 3,461 delegates and participants from 138 countries.

The event has generated more than 28,500 B2B meetings, over 100 B2G and G2G interactions, and several strategic investment discussions. Around Rs 14,300 crore in textile investment commitments have been catalysed, with more than 30 MoUs signed by various states. These include Karnataka (Rs 2,821 crore, generating 11,020 jobs), Bihar (Rs 1,476 crore and over 40,500 jobs), Maharashtra (Rs 1,095 crore) and Andhra Pradesh (Rs 4,100 crore). RE&UP has also announced an investment of Rs 4,800 crore in India. Serious business enquiries worth approximately US$ 2.8 billion were generated during the event.

Bharat Tex 2026 has seen significant participation from Indian states, with Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu participating as State Partners. Several other states and Union Territories have showcased their textile capabilities through dedicated pavilions.

The participation of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, along with senior ministers from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, further underlined the importance of Bharat Tex as a key platform for India’s textile and apparel industry.

International participation has also been significant, with ministerial delegations from New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Russia, Cambodia and Portugal, representatives from the European Union, and more than 30 industry and international business delegations from countries including the US, Japan, the UK, Spain, Italy, South Korea, the UAE, Australia, France and Germany.

Knowledge exchange has remained a key feature of the event, with 100 knowledge sessions featuring more than 600 policymakers, global experts, industry leaders, CXOs and academicians. Discussions focused on global trade, sustainability, circularity, technological innovation, artificial intelligence, responsible sourcing, investment opportunities and technical textiles.

The Sanrachna Hackathon at the TBD Pavilion showcased innovative technical textile solutions developed by young innovators from across India. The projects included protective garments for farmers, advanced diabetic wound-care products and lightweight insulated mattresses for extreme climates. The initiative was recognised by Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh and Minister of State for Textiles and External Affairs Pabitra Margherita.

In a move to promote inclusive growth, Bharat Tex 2026 also hosted specialised exposure visits for more than 250 entrepreneurs and weavers from Aspirational Districts. The programme connected MSMEs with buyers, exhibitors and industry experts while providing insights into international quality standards, branding, product innovation and export opportunities.

The event also hosted the Board Meeting of the International Apparel Federation (IAF), further strengthening India’s position in the global apparel manufacturing ecosystem.

A key milestone was the signing of a Letter of Intent between the Bharat Tex Trade Federation (BTTF) and Première Vision Paris. The collaboration aims to strengthen India–EU textile partnerships through enhanced market access, sustainable sourcing, design intelligence and greater buyer-seller engagement.

Discussions on positioning India’s heritage textiles as premium global brands also featured prominently. Designers Rahul Mishra and Vaishali Shadangule, along with industry leaders, highlighted the potential of India’s handlooms, handicrafts and traditional weaving traditions to become powerful global differentiators through craftsmanship and cultural storytelling.

The exhibition floor remained active across specialised thematic pavilions. The CMAI Brands of India Pavilion brought together more than 70 leading Indian apparel brands and, for the first time, featured a dedicated showcase for India’s growing intimate and innerwear segment. Leading brands from across the country showcased their latest products to buyers and retailers.

Sustainability remained another major focus through the Eco-Stitch Sustainability & Circularity Hub, jointly presented by CMAI and the Global Alliance for Textile Sustainability (GATS). Based on the theme “Sustainable, Circular and Competitive Bharat,” the hub brought together recyclers, manufacturers, brands, innovators, technology providers and ecosystem partners to showcase practical solutions for a more sustainable and circular textile industry.

With strong visitor participation, packed knowledge sessions, extensive networking and significant business activity, Bharat Tex 2026 is reinforcing India’s ambition to become a preferred global destination for textile manufacturing, sourcing, innovation and responsible growth.
