Home Ministry Meeting To Discuss ‘One Nation, One Police Uniform’

A meeting of various Indian textile research associations and other government departments is being organised on November 10 to discuss the issue of ‘One Nation. One Police Uniform’ suggested by PM Modi one year back.

Following the idea mooted by PM Modi, the Ministry of Home Affairs had formed a panel of various government departments and agencies; textile research bodies as well as state police heads.

The textile research bodies include Man-Made Textile Research Association (MANTRA), Ahmedabad Textile Research Association (ATIRA), South India Textile Research Association (SITRA) and Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA).

“The meeting is being called to discuss standardisation of police uniforms across all states and union territories across India and also that of State and Central Reserve Police Forces,” media reports stated.

The meeting will discuss the quality, colour and the dyes to be used in the uniform fabrics with the idea to have a single colour of fabric to be used for all police forces.
