Egypt Launches Cotton Festival Initiative To Support Textile MSMEs

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) Development Agency has launched the Egyptian Cotton Festival initiative in partnership with Cairo Governorate and the Egyptian Marketing Studies Foundation to strengthen micro, small and medium enterprises operating across the country’s cotton and textile value chain.

The initiative is aimed at improving market access, production efficiency and export readiness for businesses engaged in cotton furnishings, textiles, spinning, weaving, ginning machinery, chemicals, dyeing and cotton raw material supply.

Under the programme, participating enterprises will receive financial and technical support, along with assistance in connecting with larger brands and expanding into domestic and international markets.

The initiative was formally announced during a meeting between MSMEDA CEO Bassel Rahmy and Mahmoud Hassan, Chairperson of the Egyptian Marketing Studies Foundation.

Rahmy said the programme aligns with the Egyptian government’s strategy to strengthen local manufacturing, boost exports and support industries capable of reducing import dependence while remaining globally competitive.

He noted that Egypt’s cotton sector remains one of the country’s key industrial segments and said MSMEDA is focused on supporting small enterprises operating in textiles, furnishings, handicrafts and allied industries.

According to officials, the initiative will also help enterprises understand export procedures, obtain international certifications and benefit from incentives available under Egypt’s MSME Development Law and recently introduced tax incentive measures.

The programme further aims to strengthen collaboration between large manufacturers and small businesses to improve supply chain integration and create wider market opportunities.

Mahmoud Hassan said the initiative is designed to restore the global positioning of Egyptian cotton products through modern marketing and industrial development strategies. He added that the programme would support entrepreneurs in improving product quality, increasing exports and building stronger business networks with established Egyptian brands.
