Eight Out Of Ten Denim Mills Prefer Monforts, Dominate Kingpins Amsterdam

Monforts cemented its dominance in sustainable denim production at the recent Kingpins Amsterdam exhibition, held April 16–17, as eight of the ten denim fabrics featured in the 2025 Most Sustainable Product (MSP) showcase were produced by mills using Monforts technology.

These mills – Arvind (India), Diamond Corduroy and Soorty (Pakistan), Isko and Orta (Turkey), Naveena Denim (Pakistan), Saitex (Vietnam), and Textil Santanderina (Spain) – rely on Monforts’ advanced systems such as MONTEX stenters, MONFORTEX shrinking ranges, ECO LINE finishing systems, and THERMEX dyeing ranges to achieve superior resource efficiency.

“Monforts MONTEX stenters are the industry standard in denim finishing,” said Hans Wroblowski, Monforts Head of Denim. “Our multifunctional spray coating and thermo-stretch technologies help produce high-performance lifestyle denims with significant energy savings.”

Monforts customers also played a key role in the Stretch Yourself exhibit at Kingpins 2025, a creative collaboration between seven leading mills and 30 students from Amsterdam’s House of Denim Foundation’s Jean School. Participating mills included Bossa, Calik, Orta (Turkey), Naveena, Soorty (Pakistan), DNM Denim (Egypt), and Advance Denim (China), with Lycra Company as a partner. The project encouraged free-form design using innovative stretch denims.

Cotton remains central to denim, but Lenzing’s cellulosic fibres like Tencel and Ecovero are gaining traction. At Kingpins, Lenzing Hong Kong showcased its Application Innovation Collection 25, developed with mill partners including Monforts users Advance Denim, Naveena, Soorty, TCE Jeans (Vietnam), and US Denim Mills (Pakistan). “This collection responds to brand demands for varied wash effects and sustainable fibre blends,” said Dennis Hui of Lenzing.

Monforts ECO LINE technologies offer gentle processing of sensitive fibres, like Tencel, through innovations like the ThermoStretch unit and EcoApplicator, which minimizes chemical usage. The ‘double rubber’ denim range with dual compressive shrinkage and felt calender units supports super elastic and bi-elastic fabric production.

The Econtrol® and Econtrol® TC-A dyeing processes, compatible with cotton, synthetics, and cellulosics, enable one-step dyeing and drying using steam and air. This efficient pad-dry method completes in just 2–3 minutes, enhancing ecological performance.

“Monforts customers continue innovating within integrated mills to enhance sustainability,” Wroblowski noted. “Their collaborations with us are shaping the future of denim, as showcased consistently at Kingpins events worldwide.”
