Better Cotton Joins Policy Hub To Strengthen EU Sustainability Policy Dialogue

Better Cotton, the world’s largest cotton sustainability initiative, has joined the Policy Hub—a Brussels-based coalition driving collaborative input on key EU policy developments in the textile and apparel sector.
Established in 2019, the Policy Hub facilitates technical discussions on emerging regulations and builds consensus across its network to influence policy areas such as the Empowering Consumers and Green Claims Directives, the Omnibus proposal, and the Eco-design for Sustainable Products Regulation.
Commenting on the collaboration, Hélène Bohyn, Policy & Advocacy Manager at Better Cotton, said:
“Amidst the current deregulation trend, the Policy Hub is a great vehicle for industry stakeholders to come together to demonstrate and maintain the momentum of all the efforts being invested in driving the sector towards sustainability.”
Through this coalition, Better Cotton will contribute insights from farm-level realities, helping to elevate the role of cotton and sustainability standards in supporting the industry’s transition toward circular and environmentally responsible practices.
Policy Hub Co-Directors Marina Prados Espínola and Antoine Demarche said:
“We are delighted to start a new chapter of collaboration with Better Cotton, whose broad expertise in agricultural practices and on-the-ground realities will strengthen our policy efforts at the European level.”
By joining the Policy Hub’s Advisory Group, Better Cotton becomes part of a coalition of 40+ members—including Textile Exchange, Fashion for Good, the Social and Labor Convergence Program, the Organic Cotton Accelerator, and Fair Labor Association—advocating for policies that reflect the full spectrum of the textile supply chain and promote cotton’s environmental and social sustainability as a natural fibre.
