FAB Show 2024 Boosts India’s Textile & Apparel Industry

The Fabrics, Accessories & Beyond Show 2024 (FAB Show 2024), orchestrated by the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), culminated in resounding success, heralding a promising era for the country’s textile and apparel sector. Spanning three days from April 15 to April 17 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, the event exceeded all anticipations, generating an estimated business volume surpassing 2,100 crores.

Drawing in 10,200 trade visitors from over 320 cities nationwide, including a contingent of 1,500 elite platinum buyers, the trade show also captured the attention of international buyers from 16 countries such as Bangladesh, UAE, and the USA, among others. Esteemed sourcing heads from industry giants like Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail, Reliance Brands, and Shoppers Stop further augmented the event’s significance as a premier sourcing platform.

Rajesh Masand, President of CMAI, lauded the success of the FAB show, emphasizing its far-reaching impact across the garment industry’s supply chain. Masand said, “The remarkable success of this year’s show not only promises immediate business opportunities but also heralds long-term strategic developments and fosters new sourcing relationships. This resurgence comes at a crucial juncture, revitalizing an industry previously beset by tepid demand and recent challenges.”

At the heart of this year’s FAB Show was a focus on innovation and sustainability, showcased by over 200 domestic exhibitors, including industry stalwarts like Grasim, Arvind, and Siyaram’s, alongside numerous MSMEs. The event served as a platform for diverse sectors, featuring fabric suppliers, accessories manufacturers, and software developers, who presented their latest offerings and services to a discerning audience.

Naveen Sainani, Chairman of FAB Show at CMAI, underlined the event’s commitment to driving growth and sustainability within the industry. He highlighted the Sustainability zone as a major draw, showcasing fabrics crafted from recyclable materials and advocating for wastewater management—a testament to CMAI’s holistic strategy aimed at promoting innovation and circularity.

The Surat Pavilion, organized by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SGCCI), emerged as a highlight of the event, featuring over 40 leading fabric manufacturers. Siddharth Dhawan of Gokul Tex Print and Ritesh Patel of Surbhi Textile Mills from Surat expressed optimism about the industry’s trajectory, citing steady growth and exceptional response from buyers.

Representing Aditya Birla (Cellulosic Fibres), Murugan Thenkondar emphasized the significance of platforms like FAB Show in presenting the textile value chain comprehensively, catering to diverse sourcing requirements and fostering positive industry dynamics.

Sailesh Kukreja of Bhagwan Enterprise applauded CMAI’s innovative measures to ensure a diverse buyer presence, while J.P. Singh of Ramtex – Parmeshwari Silk Mills highlighted the growing consumer preference for eco-friendly fabrics, signaling a shift towards sustainability.

The success of CMAI FAB Show 2024 features not only the resilience of India’s textile and apparel industry but also its potential for sustained growth and innovation, propelling it towards a brighter future.
