India’s Apparel Exports To EU Hit Record US$ 4.66 Billion In FY2025-26

India’s apparel exports to the European Union (EU) reached a record US$4.66 billion during FY2025-26, marking a significant milestone for the country’s textile and apparel industry. The achievement highlights India’s growing prominence as a preferred global sourcing destination, driven by its manufacturing capabilities, quality standards and increasing focus on sustainable production.
Sharing the milestone on social media platform X, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways stated that the record export performance reflects the rising global confidence in India’s manufacturing excellence. The ministry noted that India’s strengths in quality, innovation and a robust supply chain are helping the country strengthen its position as a reliable partner in the global apparel market while expanding its presence across international markets.
The strong export growth has been supported by India’s well-established manufacturing ecosystem, skilled workforce and adherence to international quality standards. Increasing investments in innovation, sustainable manufacturing practices and value-added products have further enhanced the competitiveness of Indian apparel exporters. In addition, improvements in logistics infrastructure, digital trade facilitation and integrated supply chains have enabled manufacturers to deliver products more efficiently and reliably to global buyers.
The European Union remains one of India’s largest export destinations for textiles and apparel. The record export performance reflects sustained efforts by the industry to diversify product offerings, adopt environmentally responsible manufacturing practices and meet the growing demand for ethically produced garments in European markets.
Government initiatives focused on improving the ease of doing business, modernising textile infrastructure, promoting exports and strengthening logistics connectivity have also played a key role in enhancing the sector’s global competitiveness. These measures have enabled Indian manufacturers to strengthen their presence across major European markets while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance and timely delivery.
The milestone further reinforces India’s position as a trusted partner in the global apparel value chain. With international brands increasingly seeking diversified and resilient sourcing destinations, India’s apparel industry is well placed to expand its market share, attract fresh investments, generate employment and contribute significantly to the country’s export-led growth strategy.
Industry observers believe that continued emphasis on innovation, sustainability, product diversification and supply chain resilience will help Indian apparel exporters build on this momentum and further strengthen the country’s leadership in the global textile and garment industry.
