Birla Cellulose Unveils Sustainable Textile Innovations At Heimtextil 2025

“We are excited about the future of sustainable solutions in textiles, working toward a cleaner, greener and innovative textile industry for all,” says Himanshu Bhardwaj, Vice President – Marketing & Business Development, Birla Cellulose

World’s largest producer of man-made cellulosic fibres, Birla Cellulose, showcased its innovations at Heimtextil 2025, a testimony to the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, efficiency and innovation in the textile industry.

“This year, we introduced many innovative products, including our Wool/Livaeco Viscose Single Bath Dyeing Process, which transforms the carpet industry by enhancing dyeing efficiency while achieving brighter, more vibrant colours, all while minimizing resource consumption. Additionally, we presented eco-friendly bed and bath linens crafted from Liva Reviva made with Circulose, emphasizing circularity and sustainability” said Himanshu Bhardwaj, Vice President – Marketing & Business Development, Birla Cellulose.

“We are also excited to offer temperature-regulating attributes for bed linen using our fibers, powered by Cocona’s 37.5 technology, which provide unmatched comfort for bedding solutions. Furthermore, our sustainable fibre Birla Spunshades (dope-dyed viscose) eliminates the need for fabric dyeing, significantly reducing effluent discharge, making it a major milestone in eco-conscious textile manufacturing. Birla Spunshades features color lock technology, which prevents fading even after multiple washes, as the dye pigments are embedded into the fiber. Our collection also includes luxurious linen, and jute blends with our fibers, combining elegance with sustainability for innovative furnishing and flooring applications. Excel (Lyocell), Ecosoft (Bamboo Viscose) and Eucacel (Eucalyptus Viscose) have strong acceptance and continue to grow strongly for all home textile applications especially in bed and bath linen”, he added.

Bhardwaj observed a growing preference for sustainable fibers and textured surfaces in textiles. Commenting on the increase of Indian exhibitors at Heimtextil 2025, he said, “India has always been a preferred sourcing destination for buyers across the globe. India has a distinct advantage across all consumer segments due to its exceptional product quality.”

On the response at the show, Bhardwaj added “Our booth was visited by key global value chain partners representing the top brands and retailers, all expressing strong interest in our products and sustainable fibre solutions. We had highly productive conversations with brands from across the globe, reinforcing Birla Cellulose’s position as a leader in eco-friendly innovation.”

Birla Cellulose prioritizes sustainability as a core value. “As one of the largest producers of man-made cellulosic fibers, we are honored to maintain our no. 1 position in the Canopy Hot Button Global Ranking for two consecutive years and achieved the prestigious Dark Green Shirt Rating for five years in a row. This reflects our commitment to sustainable wood sourcing, forest conservation, sustainable practices and transparency across the value chain. Our sustainability practices continue to set new standards in the industry, and we are excited about the future of sustainable textiles, working toward a cleaner, greener, and innovative textile industry for all.” Bhardwaj proudly stated.

The company’s research facilities are regularly working on innovations and applications of our fibers across all products categories in Apparel and Home Textiles. “More futuristic sustainable innovations to be unveiled in our upcoming shows and events,” Bhardwaj hinted.

Birla Cellulose’s focus on sustainable practices, cutting-edge innovation, and quality-driven solutions positions it as a leader in the evolving textile industry.
