TEA, SGCCI Sign MoU To Strengthen Trade Collaboration And Market Access

The Tiruppur Exporters Association (TEA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SGCCI) to strengthen trade cooperation, expand business opportunities and enhance policy advocacy for the textile and apparel industry.

The agreement was signed by K.M. Subramanian, President of TEA, and N. Thirukkumaran, General Secretary, on behalf of the association. M. Anand, Joint Secretary of TEA, and J.V. Suresh Kumar, representing SGCCI, were also present during the signing ceremony.

Under the partnership, TEA will function as a Satellite Chapter of SGCCI, paving the way for closer collaboration between the two organisations and facilitating stronger trade and industrial linkages between Tiruppur and the South Gujarat region.

Established in 1940, SGCCI is one of western India’s leading industry bodies, representing businesses across South Gujarat from Bharuch to Umbergaon. The chamber has over 12,500 direct members, more than 150 affiliated trade associations and an indirect membership base exceeding 200,000.

The collaboration is expected to provide TEA members with wider access to SGCCI’s business network across Gujarat and other domestic markets. It will also create opportunities to participate in exhibitions, trade fairs and business networking events organised by SGCCI, while enabling exporters to leverage international platforms to explore new global markets.

The MoU further aims to strengthen policy advocacy through coordinated representation of industry concerns before government authorities.

As part of the agreement, TEA and SGCCI will establish a Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) comprising representatives from both organisations. The committee will work on addressing industry challenges, promoting collaborative initiatives and presenting key issues affecting exporters before policymakers.
